Michael and Kay visit the home of one of his old Sicilian bodyguards from Godfather I.

Kay: “It is dangerous for you. It is Sicily.”

Michael;” I love this country. All through history, terrible things have happened to these people…But they still expect that good will happen to them.”

Kay: “Kind of like you and me.”

Michael: “But with dread.” He asks Kay to forgive him for everything. “I loved my father. I swore I would never be a man like him. But later on he was in danger. What could I do? Then you were in danger, our children were in danger….and now you’re gone. It was all for nothing.I had a whole different destiny planned.”

Kay weeps.

Michael:”I’m not the man that you think I am. I love you Kay. Don’t dread me any more.”

Kay: “I always loved you Michael and I always will. . ”

A knock on the door and Michael learns that Don Tomassino has been killed. Old bodyguard yells “Blood calls for blood. I will avenge him;”

Kay: “It never ends.”

….

Michael talking softly to the dead body of Tomassino in his casket.

“Why was I so feared and you so loved? I wanted to do good. What betrayed me? My mind? My heart? I swear on the lives of my children. Give me a chance to redeem myself and I will sin no more.”
